If you have a resort or facility in mind and would like to help start an SOS Outreach program in your area, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Absolutely. SOS Outreach has all the soft and hard goods necessary for a child to participate, including jackets, pants, goggles, gloves and hats for winter programs, as well as everything for hiking and camping, including tents, hiking boots, and backpacks.
Most participants are responsible for a nominal fee for service. That fee covers a portion of program expenses, and SOS Outreach – with support from our corporate sponsors - covers the remainder of the necessary expenses.
At-risk can mean any number of things. SOS seeks to engage participants who are not on track to graduate high school, and help them find a path to success. Risk factors we look at include - among others - poor attendance in school, low grades, speaking English as a second language, exposure to drugs and alcohol, involvement with the court system, and low household income. In general, we target participants who are dealing with at least two of our risk factors.
